While this wonderful bracelet has the look of Bakelite or even Amber, we believe this Bracelet is made out of an early material called "Faturan".
The information on this material varies.  Most agree that it was made in the early 1900's but not after the 1940's.  It is believed to be made of a mixture of natural amber, incense and resins.
Futuran is a hard shiny material that looks like Bakelite or Amber but does not test positive for either Bakelite or Amber.  The beads do not float -- no reaction to semichrome.
And depending on your resource, it was either invented by a German in the early 1900's or invented between 1700-1900 by an Egyptian.  Some say the Egyptian's name was Faturan".
**  It measures about 3" across on the outside and about 2-1/2" across on the inside and will
fit an average wrist -- very comfortable.
The bracelet has 10 beads and is butterscotch in color with light swirls in the material.
**  Each bead is about 2" long and 7/8" wide.
It is in excellent vintage condition -- no chips or cracks or wear -- very smooth & shiny.
