Chunky Lucite Bangle with Stripes, Oval Shape, ca. 1960s

Description

This chunky vintage Lucite bangle has both an unusual oval shape and an uncommon color palette. The opaque white bangle has egg yolk yellow and orchid pink stripes, a mix of colors you don't see often. The bangle is another great piece created at the Best Plastics Company, made with a process known as extrusion. You can see examples of bangles with the same colors on p. 173 of Tortoriello and Lyons' book, Plastic Bangles. The bangle is about 1 5/16" wide, with 3/16" thick walls. The oval opening measures about 3" x 2 1/4". The interior measurement of the bangle is about 8".
Condition is excellent, although there is moderate to heavy surface wear to the Lucite. This is mostly hard to see, except on the white areas (especially toward the top and bottom edges). There is also one little interior edge chip, which has been polished smooth. This is a factory flaw that is common on this type of piece.
