Description
This fantastic blue and white Lucite bangle was made by the Best Plastics Company of Pawtucket, RI. It's a design you don't find too often, referred to as a "twist bangle" with "quadrant balls" in Tortoriello and Lyons' book, Plastic bangles (p. 182). The piece consists of a thin twisting rod, capped at both ends with a single bead. The incredibly cute two-color quadrant balls look like little beach balls. The spiraling "twist" shape has a bit of give to it, which makes it a nice choice if you have problems fitting into other vintage bangles. It's also much lighter weight than similarly sized bangles, if you happen to be bothered by overly chunky feeling pieces. The bangle stands about 1" at its widest in the front, tapering to about 3/8" in the back. The bangle has a standard 2 1/2" opening, which can expand slightly. The beads are about 1/2" wide.
Condition is excellent overall. There are a couple of small scuffs that are mostly unremarkable, although one happens to be right on the front of one of the little balls. You may notice it, but others will not.
